How this index works
Every property is assigned to exactly one of the four categories above and described in a single paragraph of prose rather than a specification table, because the things that make a hotel worth reading about — how a building sits on its site, how its rooms actually feel, what kind of traveller it quietly suits — do not fit into rows of figures. The entries stay at the level of general, durable character: architecture, setting, format and atmosphere. They carry no star ratings, no guest reviews, no prices and no availability, and the index has no booking function of any kind; if a property interests you, the next step is the hotel's own website. Categories are deliberately narrow, so a property appears once, under the heading that describes what it fundamentally is.
